SRC works on details of initial 'First Friday'

The Sparta Revitalization Committee is still firming up details of its initial "First Friday" venture next week.

Last week, the committee voted to purchase single-event insurance coverage for the May 3 event, while agreeing to further study providing insurance over the long term for SRC-sponsored events.

The committee has planned First Fridays as a monthly entertainment event during warm-weather months, a promotional tool for downtown area businesses as well as the SRC. The theme for May 3's event is "Cinco de Mayo," and members of First Baptist Church's Hispanic mission, along with JAM (Junior Appalachian Musician) pupils, have agreed to participate. Local food vendors have also expressed interest.
