The Alleghany County Board of Education last week approved three-year improvement plans for all four public schools.
Principals or assistant principals presented the schools' plans during the board's monthly meeting April 10. Repeated concepts included adjusting for more challenging tests, looking at each pupil individually, staff development, connections between different subjects, improving communication and flexibility in scheduling and in monetary allocations. Assistant Principal Barbara Lyon told the board about Alleghany High School's goals. "Our objective is to achieve ‘school of distinction' status," she commented.
