HP plans forum here on April 24

The North Carolina Highway Patrol will hold a Community Relations Forum on April 24 at the Alleghany Inn.

The forum, slated to begin at 7 p.m. in the conference room at the inn, is slated to offer an exchange of ideas between the community and the patrol.

"The patrol is inviting community leaders and all citizens from Alleghany County to attend the forum to establish an exchange of ideas and information that will enable the Highway Patrol to more effectively meet the needs of the citizens of North Carolina," a news release said.

The forum is a structured meeting in which community leaders and citizens may share with the patrol any ideas or concerns they have about how the patrol accomplishes its mission of ensuring safe transportation on the state's highways.

The forums have been scheduled in every county in North Carolina and are an annual occurrance. The forums help the patrol meet requirements for accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).
