New Look — An artists' rendition of the new entrance at Alleghany
Memorial Hospital includes a view from the vantage point of Willis

The Alleghany Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees last week gave the official go-ahead for phase one of the hospital's construction/expansion project.
Jim Yarborough, chief executive officer of AMH, said construction is to begin in late May. The exact date has not yet been set; a meeting with the contractor and architect is scheduled for May 2.
Phase one will include new surgery and emergency departments, located behind the present hospital building. It will also provide the "shelling in" of a new lobby/admission area, which will be completed during phase three.
Before the board gave its approval, financing options were lined up, as the "New Legacy Challenge" fundraising efforts continue. Phase one is expected to cost $4.5 million, with the entire construction priced at $8 million.
