Harry Talmadge Englebert, a 55-year-old former Wilkes County principal, was indicted by an Alleghany County Grand Jury on Monday for nine sex offenses. Englebert is charged with offenses against five young male victims, all of whom were under the age of 16 at the time of the alleged offenses. All of the boys were from Wilkes County, but the charges stem from incidents purported to have occurred at Englebert's summer home on Allen Road in Piney Creek. His residence is listed as Lithia Springs Road in Moravian Falls.
Charges on behalf of four of those victims had not been announced prior to
the indictments. An indictment is the certification of a charge, not a
finding of innocence or guilt. All of the charges are felonies.
