Projected cuts in child care allocations have local agency representatives worried. A lack of child-care subsidy money will result in hard choices — for agencies that serve children and for families. Agency representatives are responding by trying to organize a donation-based program to fund summer day care.
"We all — the agencies that serve children — are in a panic, knowing how much money's going to be cut," said Jane Wyatt, social work supervisor for the Alleghany County Department of Social Services (DSS).
