The A. Anderson Huber Cyber Campus carried out the first live television coverage of an Alleghany County government board meeting last week. While the telecast was not problem-free, it was successfully accomplished and even included some participation by the television audience.

The Alleghany County Board of Education, which normally meets at its central office, met Feb. 12 in the "cybertorium," part of the cyber campus at Alleghany High School. That allowed the meeting to be shown live on Alleghany Cablevision Channel 50.

Most of the open portion of the meeting — which lasted about an hour — was spent on the accountability policy update, which included reports from all four school principals.

Sally Chitwood, the school system's director of instruction, said the accountability policy was adopted in May 2000 and revised in May 2001.
