Heart auction proceeds increase

Part one of the annual WCOK Heart Fund Auction raised about $500 more than this time last year and almost half of the auction’s overall goal for this year.

"We thought we had a pretty good day," said auction Chairman Virginia Setzer. She said that last Saturday, 109 items were auctioned for $3,781. In addition, challenges, pledges, memorials and other contributions made during the auction totaled $2,597, for a one-day total of $6,378. Last year’s auction raised $5,820 during its first half and about $13,000 overall. The $13,000 figure is also this year’s goal.
