Two die in N.C. 93 wreck

An accident Monday afternoon on N.C. 93 involving a van and a disabled tractor-trailer left two dead and one in critical condition, according to a report filed by Trooper R.C. Boger.

Several members of the same family were injured or killed in the 3:30 p.m. accident, all passengers in a 1988 Ford mini-van, including the two fatalities. Fatally injured in the accident were 44-year-old Rickey Blevins, who was died at the scene, and 13-year-old Tammy Childress, who died in transport via AirCare to N.C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

Injured were 40-year-old Sarah Carico Blevins, the driver of the van and mother of the three Childress children; 14-year-old Billy Childress, 16-year- old Sarah Childress and another passenger, 30-year-old Peter Brim, who also listed the same address as the others.

Everyone in the van was listed as living at an address on Barrett Road in Ennice.

Sarah Childress was listed in critical condition at N.C. Baptist Hospital's intensive care unit on Tuesday afternoon.

Billy Childress, Sarah Carico Blevins and Brim were all treated and released at Alleghany Memorial Hospital in Sparta. The 1993 Kenworth was not hauling a load at the time of the accident.
