The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners discussed the county's retirement insurance plan at a meeting held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the County Office Building in Sparta.
The plan allows for retirees to get free insurance for the remainder of their lives, paid for by the county in recognition of their years of service.
The plan in the county's employee handbook is directly tied to the local government commission standards.
