Tax listing period is extended

The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners last week approved an extension to the listing period for personal property and business personal property. The regular listing period is Jan. 2 to Jan. 31. The commissioners' action at their Jan. 8 meeting extended the end of the period until Feb. 15.

Tax Administrator Mary Walker, who made the request for the extension, said the listing forms were supposed to arrive at the tax office by Dec. 18 (2001) but did not arrive.
