Alleghany veterinarian Dr. William ‘Bill' DeBord died unexpectedly last Thursday night.
DeBord, who maintains a residence in Independence, Va., was a partner in Twin Oaks Veterinary Hospital with Dr. Nash Williams.
Debord had practiced veterinary medicine at the Twin Oaks clinic since 1980. He was a graduate of Emory and Henry College and the University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine.
He is survived by his wife Ann Watson DeBord, who works at Alleghany Family Practice in Sparta; and two sons, Willie and Danny, both students at Bridle Creek Elementary School in Grayson County, Va. DeBord, who was raised in Smyth County near Rich Valley, was 46 years old.
