Sitting in a quiet room filled with computers, Community Technology Learning Center (CTLC) Program Director Dawn Villarruel discussed the program's offerings soon after opening. The CTLC is located in the A. Anderson Huber Cyber Campus on the grounds of Alleghany High School.
Now, the center's visitations continue to increase with each passing day and Villarruel hopes that even more of the community will use the center.
"We've seen a steady growth in visitation since we officially opened the doors on Nov. 26," she said. "We hope to see more people and more diversity in age and cultures as time goes on."
The new center features 15 266 megahertz Pentium computers, Internet access, a scanner (for photographs), a video camera, digital camera and other items of interest for local computer users. However, if none of these items are familiar to you, then the center is still an option, Villarruel said.
"We're here for everyone in the community," she said. "The center is free to use and we encourage everyone to come by and take advantage of it." The center has no usage fees or charges of any kind, Villarruel reiterated.
