Just before the precipitation came, fire fighters dealt with yet another brush fire Nov. 23. The fire scorched about one-tenth acre in the Barrett Road-Jr. Dairy Road area of Glade Creek.
Crouse said about 10 members of the Glade Creek Volunteer Fire Department, along with two from the forestry service, spent about 45 minutes on the scene.

A brush fire was reported just over the Ashe County line in the Laurel Springs fire district on Monday at 10 a.m.
Lt. Danny Brooks said the department responded with three trucks and nine members. The fire fighters were on the scene for about three hours, he said.
The blaze began when construction workers were burning stumps near Woodie Road when the fire crossed the road and entered an overgrown area.
