New agent experienced in forestry

David Isner, the new N.C. Cooperative Extension Service's Christmas tree agent for Alleghany County, steps into the position at a very busy time of the year.

Isner's new responsibilities as an agent also include forestry, however, and he brings an ample background of forestry experience to the job.

"We have a very successful Christmas tree industry here," he said. "The shoes of the previous agent, Jerry Washington, probably cannot be filled. He knew his business and was well liked."

While Washington was responsible for Christmas tree sales in both Alleghany and Ashe counties, Isner's jurisdiction will include forestry and commercial horticulture as well as Christmas trees, but only in Alleghany.
