Mayor John Miller has agreed to be the chairman for Alleghany Memorial Hospital's (AMH) ‘New Legacy Challenge,' a capital campaign to fund construction and renovations.
Miller said, "I am delighted to serve as chairman. The plans for this project have been in the works for a long time and I believe this is our opportunity to take the hospital to the next level."
Dr. Cyrus Heravi, retired physician for Alleghany Memorial and foundation board member, said, "Once again John will take a leadership role in our community. He has been our mayor for 19 years, a hospital board member since 1971 and chairman of the board of trustees for the hospital since 1980."
In 1999, Miller received the N.C. Hospital Association Trustee Service Award honoring his work.
