Bristol Compressors announced last Thursday afternoon that it will be closing its Sparta manufacturing facility in 2002.

Alleghany Cares addition opens to robust customer turnout

Customer participation was robust during the grand opening of the recently revamped Alleghany Cares thrift store on Aug. 17, as about 70 people were lined up outside just before the store opened at 10 a.m., waiting to hunt for the best bargains on clothes, shoes and knickknacks.

Electricity outage blamed on "regulator"

A two-and-a-half-hour power outage last week was caused by a regulator malfunction, according to an electric cooperative spokeswoman.
