A car dealership founded by a veteran just back from World War II is closing its doors.
Choate Motor Company co-owner Buck Mitchell said, "We hate to see the Ford dealership go away. For over a year we've tried to find a buyer who would operate it as a Ford dealership, to serve the customers we have served for 51 years. We were not successful."
Mitchell's partner, David Choate, said the Ford Motor Company was to pick up the new vehicles Tuesday from the dealership on Whitehead Street. They would be relocated to Dale Jarrett Ford in Monroe. Choate Motors' used car lot on south Main Street is being sold to Ronnie Greene of Ennice. The sale closing is expected this week, said Mitchell.
