Susan Pope, radon educator from North Carolina State University, will be in Alleghany County on Tuesday, Aug. 21.
Pope, a source of information on recent stories about radon, will be coming to do a program on radon education. The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the conference room of the Alleghany County Office Building. Pope will hold a question and answer session after giving an educational awareness program.
In a release, the extension service noted, "With all of the media attention that radon has received during the past month in Alleghany County, cooperative extension is working to make the people in our community more informed and knowledgeable."
Carmen Long, extension agent, said the local extension office has had a good deal of response concerning radon information. "We hope that we have a good crowd at the meeting to make it worth her time," Long said. Radon test kits will be given to each person who pre-registers and attends the program. To pre-register, call the extension office at 372-5597 by Friday, Aug. 17.
