Despite dismal skies and steady rain, which was heavy at times, the annual New River Shrine Club Car Show went ahead as planned last Saturday at the Justice Carlisle Higgins Agricultural Fairgrounds in Sparta. 53ford.jpg (43K)

Rain fell throughout the morning as the entrants arrived to check in their prized autos, and at 10 a.m. the decision was made to continue with the show, albeit a wet one.

"I'm glad we're going ahead with the show," said N.C. Trooper (and Shriner) Earl Marmie as he stood in the downpour.
