Business surveys planned

Members of the Sparta Revitalization Committee hope surveys they plan to distribute soon will lead to improving economic conditions in Alleghany County.

New health department building opens

Alleghany County's new health complex is now open. Health and other county personnel moved equipment and records into the building on July 20 and on Monday, and the Alleghany County Health Center opened to the public Tuesday.

Fiddlers converge on fairgrounds

Mountain music enthusiasts from across the area converged on the Justice Carlisle Higgins Agricultural Fairgrounds in Sparta last weekend to enjoy a festive convention.
