The annual Lions Club All Game Horse Show was held last Friday evening and throughout the day Saturday at the Justice Carlisle Higgins Agricultural Fairgrounds in Sparta.

The event attracted 157 horses from all over the southeastern U.S., according to event organizer Pete Church.

"We had horses from all over," Church said. "They were brought from South Carolina, West Virginia....they came from all around." Church said the crowd wasn't outstanding, but that the show was successful nonetheless.

"We had a lot of competition for spectators," Church said. "Christmas at the Fourth of July was going on in West Jefferson....But we still had one of the best shows ever. Some camped out and stayed all night and everybody got along."

[The results of the show weren't available as of presstime, and will be reported as soon as they are turned over to The Alleghany News.]
