Peal gets prepared to take reins at AHS

Alleghany High School's next principal and his growing family are excited about coming here from Wilkes County.

Jeff Peal explained in a recent interview that his philosophy includes moral values, a solid work ethic and straight talking.

The Alleghany County Board of Education appointed Peal as AHS principal at its May 2 meeting. Principal Jim Halsey had previously announced his retirement, effective at the end of the school year.

Peal is now finishing his second year as assistant principal at North Wilkes High School.
