Alleghany's Hispanic population has risen 524 percent

Alleghany County's population has increased by 11.3 percent since the 1990 Census, with Hispanics making up a large part of that growth, according to data released last week by the U.S. Census Bureau. Census 2000 shows Alleghany with 10,677 people, up from 9,590 in 1990.
