A recent study claims more than one-third of North Carolina households earn less than necessary for a basic standard of living.
According to a report released last month by N.C. Justice and Community
Development Center and N.C. Equity, non-profit organizations based in
Raleigh, more than 1.1 million families in the state earn less than what
they call a "Living Income Standard" (LIS).
