McKnight's family offers $10k reward

INDEPENDENCE, Va. -The family of Linda McKnight is now offering $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of her slayer. The 59-year-old was shot to death in her home on Deerwood Lane, just off U.S. 58, the night of Jan. 31 or prior to 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 1.

The Grayson County Sheriff's Department has stated that there are no suspects and no arrests have been made. Sheriff Jerry Wilson is quoted by the family as saying of the reward, "I hope that will generate something."

Details recently revealed about the crime note that there was no forced entry into the McKnight's home. The front door was open and the lights in the home were on when the victim's husband, Joe Paul McKnight, returned home from work at 1:15 a.m. Joe McKnight is employed by Nautilus in Independence.

The home was not robbed and the murder weapon has yet to be found by deputies.

People who were driving in the area that night have reported to the sheriff's department that they saw men walking along the U.S. 58 corridor.

Those men are being sought for questioning, although it is not clear if they are suspects in the crime.

In addition, Twin County Crimestoppers is also offering a $1,000 reward in connection with the case.
