During half a century of ministry, Everett Shaw has seen the church he pastors grow and expand, while observing the influence of the church overall lose ground to materialism and the distractions of technology.

Shaw was ordained to the ministry in November 1950. He has been pastor of Mount Carmel Missionary Baptist Church since August 1952.

A lifelong resident of Alleghany County, Shaw was born here in 1928. As a young man, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a Saturday night revival service held at an old garage and store in Elk Creek, Va. He then joined Mount Carmel in 1949.

Reverend Everett Shaw strums a G-chord at Mount Carmel Missionary
Baptist Church, where he often plays guitar and sings in addition to preaching.
