New town attorney hired; has Alleghany County ties

Sparta's new town attorney brings to the job more than 30 years legal experience, including serving as a prosecutor and teacher.

William Graham was appointed by the Town Council on Sept. 5. His first council meeting as town attorney was Nov. 7.

Graham has been in Sparta since 1994, with a private practice specializing in criminal and traffic law.

Before coming here, he practiced law for 26 years in Durham, where he was born and raised. While Graham was growing up, this area was a favorite family vacation spot.
