Man charged with attempting to strike deputy with vehicle

An Ennice resident is charged with attempted assault with a deadly weapon on a deputy after he tried to ram Deputy Bryan Maines with a vehicle on Nov. 3.

Vets plan service

The local Bruce Wayne Osborne Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold a special ceremony on Nov. 11 for Veterans Day.

Christmas parade set

The annual Alleghany County Christmas Parade will be held on Nov. 25, according to Margaret Crouse, an organizer for the event.

Well at Glade Creek School goes dry

Glade Creek Elementary School was closed for one and a half days last week after a well that supplies the school with water went dry.
