The eighth-annual Hillbilly Comedy and Variety Show will be held on Oct. 21 at the Sparta Elementary School Auditorium at 7 p.m.
The show is being directed by Agnes Joines and all proceeds will benefit the Alleghany County Planning Committee, a supportive arm of BROC (Blue Ridge Opportunity Commission).
BROC helps families and individuals in Alleghany County with assistance in fuel costs, electric bills and clothing. BROC also assists Gap Civil Head Start, 4-H, Read-2-Me, Christmas Cheer, pharmacy costs for Alleghany CARES and other projects, according to Joines.
The Gap Civil Head Start will be selling homemade baked goods and other
refreshments.
