Skyline breaks ground on new facilityThe Cox Street location will continue to be used as a central office for customer service and network service personnel. David Patrick Moses, Architects, of Banner Elk designed the plans for the new facility and J.G. Coram Company Inc. of Mount Airy is the contractor. Established in 1951, Skyline is among the largest of nine telephone cooperatives in North Carolina, serving over 35,000 access lines across a five county region in Northwest North Carolina and east Tennessee. The company's corporate office is in West Jefferson, with customer service centers in Sparta, Seven Devils and West Jefferson. Present at the groundbreaking ceremony were several high-ranking Skyline officials and others involved with the construction of the facility. Those attending included R.C. Mitchell, Skyline president; David P. Moses of David Patrick Moses, Architects; Mark Hiatt, project manager with J.G. Coram, Company Inc., Jim Shepherd, assistant secretary of Skyline's board of directors; Hobart G. Davis and others. |
