With a change to the North Carolina General Statutes, the General Assembly has made one-stop voting for absentee voters a "no excuse" affair.
In the past, those wishing to vote absentee - either one stop or by mail - were required to offer an excuse for their unavailability on the polling date.
However, this year all registered voters may cast ballots for the November election beginning on Monday, Oct. 16 and continuing through Friday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. using one-stop voting.
One-stop voting requires that a voter appear in person at the board of elections office to cast their vote on one of the county's EasyVote 2000 electronic voting machines.
Those who wish to vote before the election can exercise that option by
stopping by the Board of Elections Office, which is located in the
second floor of the grey stone building behind the courthouse in Sparta.
