Fred Johnson specializes in the representation of school districts
Local school board selects new attorneyBy COBY LaRUEStaff Surry County attorney Fredrick Gray Johnson was named the attorney for the Alleghany County School Board after a brief meeting Monday at 8:30 a.m. Most of the meeting, about an hour, was in closed session, with board members coming out of closed session to vote on offering the job to Johnson. |

Johnson, who was at the meeting, accepted the position and started work immediately. He met with Superintendent Duane Davis and Chairman Bobby Irwin for about 30 minutes in Davis' office discussing legal matters right after he was appointed.
Johnson, a former school teacher who decided to train to become an attorney in 1973, specializes in legal matters affecting schools. Johnson taught U.S. History and World History at North Stokes High School. He has also taught classes at Surry Community College in Latin, business law and legal terminology.
Johnson has an office in Mount Airy - he is a partner in the law firm of
Faw, Folger and Johnson on North Main Street. However, Johnson lives in
King.
