Five fugitives were picked up in the county this week in unrelated arrests, according to reports on file at the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department.

All five were wanted on felony counts ranging from a probation violation to one man wanted for 11 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a minor.

The arrests took place between Aug. 15 and Aug. 21.

In the first arrest on Aug. 15, Deputy Bryan Maines and Trooper Randy Boger arrested 26-year-old Sheila Anne Barker on a warrant for obtaining property by false pretenses from the Galax Police Department in Galax, Va. Barker, who lists an address on Glade Valley Road, waived extradition and was picked up by Galax police on the same day.

The second case occurred on Aug. 16 when Det. Ricky Lyall and Deputy Craig Hart arrested 24-year-old Randy Lee Joseph and 32-year-old Jackie Lee Rios Sanchez at a residence in Ted's Trailer Park. Joseph was wanted by the state of Pennsylvania for 11 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a minor. Joseph, who listed an address on Spring Street in Mapleton, Penn. allegedly engaged in intercourse with a 12-year-old male from Huntingdon and was wanted by Pennsylvania State Police. The offenses allegedly occurred in May of 1999. Joseph was being held under a $250,000 bond awaiting extradition.
