At an emergency meeting held on Aug. 8, the Alleghany School Board approved the employment of two new teachers during a closed session. Katrina B. Wilcox will be taking over the Academically Gifted classes at Piney Creek Elementary from Mintie Saintsing.
Lynn J. Lambert will be taking Lee Menius' position as an Alleghany High School agricultural instructor.
This move comes from the resignation of Julie Wilson from the Piney Creek post. She had, instead, taken a job in the Ashe County School System.
Menius resigned from the Alleghany school system to take a position at the Rowan County Agricultural Extension Office.
