Alleghany County's African American community celebrated its heritage through a special program on Feb. 23 at the Alleghany County Library.

Man is charged in prescription case

A Sparta man landed seven felonies for allegedly having prescription medications and marijuana with the intent to sell them, according to warrants filed by Det. Lt. W.R. Crouse of the Sparta Police Department.
