Three more people have declared their candidacy in local races at the Alleghany County Board of Elections, according to Director of Elections Karen K. Fender.
Filing for seats on the school board were incumbent Chairman Wade B. ‘Bobby’ Irwin Jr. and James D. ‘Jim’ Halsey, both of Sparta. Irwin, who is 52 years old, lists an address on 307 Irwin Valley Road. Halsey is 50 years old and lists his address as 1740 Halsey Knob Road. Both men are Democrats.
Also filing for office is Democrat Mickey Hall, who is running to be an Alleghany County Commissioner. Hall is 35 years old and lists an address of 11877 Highway 18 South, Laurel Springs.
The list of those filing was complete as of Monday evening. The board of elections office was not open Tuesday.
