News' holiday office hours are heralded

The Alleghany News' office will be closing at noon today and will remain closed unil Monday, Dec. 27 at 8 a.m. Normal deadline dates will still apply for advertising and news articles. The deadlines for advertising is 5 p.m. on Monday for classifieds and display advertising. The deadline to announce events is noon Monday.

Softball field is planned

A 300 foot, lighted softball field is planned for the area above Alleghany High School and near the Lions Club Pavilion.

Cocaine, stolen gun are found

Two Cana, Va. men have been charged with possession of stolen property and goods, according to warrants filed by Deputy Tim Duncan of the Alleghany County ~Sheriff's Department.

Residents celebrate holidays

Christmas programs abounded in Alleghany last week. Along with special programs given by area churches, each school presented special Christmas programs as well.

The board of Alleghany Wellness Inc. (AWI) is eyeing two different sites in the county for a proposed wellness center.
