Four local men and one male juvenile have been charged with stealing $6,000 worth of Christmas trees and other Yuletide items after an investigation by Alleghany's Sheriff's and Probation departments. Joshua Allen Perry, Glenn Junior Perry, the 15-year-old juvenile and Adam Shawn Doub have been arrested and charged, while Chad Eric Montgomery is still being sought by law enforcement.

The name of the juvenile is being withheld by law enforcement because he is under age 16.

The investigation began after Det. Ricky Lyall got a tip concerning Christmas trees stolen from the loading dock of Pat and Jones Andrews. A total of 300 trees were taken, which were valued at $6,000. The stolen trees had not been recovered as of presstime Tuesday.

Netting the most charges was Joshua Perry, 22, who was charged with two felony counts for taking and possessing the trees, as well as three misdemeanor counts for allegedly stealing or possessing miscellaneous Christmas items from the Sparta area. Perry allegedly took five strands of lights belonging to Studio Redwood II, as well.
