Helicopter crash? Not really

A helicopter that was obviously making a visit to Alleghany caused quite a stir last Thursday.

Tour of homes in Piney Creek set for Sunday

A building project that began in the early 80s which stirred quite a lot of conversation by the people of Alleghany is one of the homes scheduled to be part of the Candlelight Christmas Tour of Homes this Sunday in Piney Creek.

Efforts are underway to preserve Bullhead

Fundraising efforts are underway to preserve most of Bullhead Mountain, a prominent two-peak ridge near the Blue Ridge Parkway that is visible from much of Alleghany and Wilkes counties.
