The wrongful death suit filed against Franklin Hash and the Town of Sparta in April has been voluntarily dismissed, according to documents mailed to the Town of Sparta.

One hurt in stabbing on U.S. 21

A knife assault on Nov. 21 left 27-year-old Lucio Mendiola with an arm wound and a Sparta man, Juan Perez Flores, charged with assault with a deadly weapon, according to a report filed on Nov. 22 by Deputy Bryan Maines of the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department.

Food Lion workers can rowdy patron

A Sparta man netted three charges after allegedly causing a disruption at a local grocery store Saturday, Nov. 20, at 3 p.m., according to warrants filed by Det. Rick Lyall of the Alleghany County Sheriff's Department.
