Hillbilly show raises about $4,000 Oct. 16By DARLENE WYATTStaff The stage at the Sparta Auditorium was filled with such acts as Elvis Presley and Shania Twain during last Saturday night's Hillbilly Comedy and Variety Show. The event was held by the Alleghany County Planning Committee, with Agnes Joines coordinating the event. Joines has been directing the variety show, which showcases mostly local singers and dancers, for the past seven years. This year's show was dedicated to local musician and singer, Homer Reeves.
