Three seats on the Town of Sparta Town Council will reach the end of their term in November.
George Mack Irwin, Agnes Joines and Bill Blevins currently hold seats on the town council that will expire in November unless re-elected.
Only one candidate had re-filed for election as of presstime Tuesday. George Mack Irwin has re-filed for his seat on the council. Filing began on July 2 and will continue through August 6 for the council. The election will be held on Nov. 2, 1999 for the three council seats.
Those interested in being elected to the council must be a registered voter in the Town of Sparta. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age to be elected to a public office.
A filing fee of $5 will be charged to candidates for filing. Anyone wanting to file, may do so at the town hall located at 58 South Main Street Sparta. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, call 372-4257.
