County budget passes, includes total school plan

The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved the county budget Monday. Included in the $9,259,226 budget was approval for the entire school facilities plan, including the gymatorium.

Wreck of 4-wheeler kills man

A Piney Creek man died soon after a 4-wheeler accident on Weaver Road in the late evening hours last Saturday, June 19.

Town budget hearing set for June 30

Sparta Town Manager Tom Douglas presented a budget plan for the upcoming fiscal year to the Sparta Town Council Monday proposing the town's taxes stay at the current rate.

Parade is set July 3 in Sparta
