The Sparta Police Department is investigating break-ins at six mobile homes on a storage lot on U.S. 21 south, according to Detective Lt. Wayne Crouse.

Crouse said that suspects in a U-Haul truck were spotted the night of June 10 at the lot, which is owned by Sparta Home Center.

The unknown thieves allegedly drove a 14-foot rental truck and took items from the six homes on the lot, which is located just north of the Little River Bridge in Sparta.

Items taken include a number of washers and dryers, refrigerators and sundry home furnishings from inside the new dwellings.

The stolen goods were valued at about $5,500, Crouse said.

He noted that there have been similar incidents in several surrounding counties.

Anyone with information concerning the break-ins may call the Sparta Police Department at 372-4252.
