Georgia man killed on U.S. 21


The driver of this motorcycle was killed last Saturday at 5:13 p.m. Hans Hungs, 49, was pronounced dead on the scene after a head-on collision.

A 49-year-old man whose address was listed as Snellville, Ga. was killed when his motorcycle was struck head-on by another vehicle last Saturday

at 5:13 p.m., according to a report filed by Trooper S.L. Roten.

Hans Hungs of Ridgedale Drive was pronounced dead on the scene from multiple injuries and was transported directly to the Ashe County Morgue.


According to the report, Hungs was traveling south on U.S. 21 when a northbound 1986 Chevrolet, driven by 22-year-old Travina Jade Andrews of Glade Valley, was attempting to turn left and enter the parking lot of the Circle L Restaurant.

Andrews allegedly failed to yield to the motorcycle and the two vehicles collided in the righthand lane, causing Hungs to be thrown into the windshield of the Chevrolet and over its top.

Hungs' body came to rest about 30 feet from the point of impact.

Damage to Hungs' 1996 Ducati motorcycle was estimated at $15,000, while damage to Andrews' Chevy was estimated at $1,000.

Andrews was also listed as injured in the accident. She was treated and released at Alleghany Memorial.

According to the trooper's report, charges are pending in the incident.
