The Alleghany County Board of Commissioners voted Monday night to approve a land use district in the Roaring Gap section of the county.
The portions of the county affected will primarily be lands owned by the Roaring Gap Club and its members, however, some areas that have traditionally been known as part of that community are included.
The specific legal description of the area was not ready as of presstime Tuesday. Attorney Jim Everette of Elkin, who was representing the club in the matter, said that the map could be completed within 10 days.
The zoning ordinance was passed without a public hearing on the matter, an issue that raised concerns for commissioners Ken Richardson and Eldon Edwards.
The crux of the land use guidance ordinance is the banning of mobile homes from the area.
