Marijuana found in car trunk

More than four ounces of marijuana with a street value of $500 were seized along with a 1985 Ford Thunderbird on March 20 by Detective Rick Lyall of the Alleghany Sheriff's Department.


Hudson is sentenced in court

A Lexington man who led police on a 40-mile chase through three counties March 10 has been sentenced to 10 to 12 months in prison by Alleghany County District Court Judge David V. Byrd. 
Land trust announces conservation easement 

Cultural conservation easement on one of the oldest farms in Alleghany County. 

The easement covers 298 acres of the 390 acres on the farm, located in the central mountains of Alleghany.
