Bristol Compressors nets '98 ESC employer award

Bristol Compressors has been awarded the Employment Security Commission's Employer Award for 1998.

Bristol was one of 68 employers who received the award for their contribution to the state's economy. Firms were nominated statewide by local ESC offices and local Job Service Employer Committees (JSEC).

The award was presented Feb. 4 by Parker Chesson, chairman of Employment Security Commission of North Carolina (ESC) to Jim Halsey of Bristol Compressors. The ceremony took place in Research Triangle Park in Raleigh.

Bristol Compressors was nominated by the Alleghany office of ESC. "This is the first time a firm has been nominated from this county," said Ann Bowlin, local office manager.

"We are very pleased that they won. Bristol has worked with us and used our services since they began operation. We hope to be able to nominate a company each year."

"We try to choose employers who use our services and contribute well to the local economy," she added.
