Woodie to leave chamber
The Main Street Program, the recruitment of Magnolia Manufacturing and
Bristol Compressors, the Cyber Campus, the American Heritage Rivers
Initiative.... all are among a long list of accomplishments that are
tucked neatly under the belt of Alleghany County's outgoing executive
director of the chamber of commerce.
Patrick Woodie, who took over as the chamber's director in 1992, will be quitting on March 31. Woodie has been the only person to ever hold the executive director's position for the Alleghany County chamber.
He is leaving his post to accept another first-ever position - he has been named the first executive director for a three-state conglomerate formed as a result of the American Heritage Rivers Initiative.
The new non-profit, named New River Community Partners (NRCP), was formed to help seek and disperse funds to execute projects that benefit the river and the communities around it. He will take over his new position on April 1.
